FOREWORD
Reliability Centered Maintenance, often known as RCM, is a methodology to ensure that assets continue to do what their users require in their present operating context. It is generally used to achieve improvements in fields such as the establishment of safe minimum levels of maintenance, changes to operating procedures and strategies and the establishment of capital maintenance regimes and plans. Successful implemention of RCM will lead to increase in cost effectiveness, machine uptime, and a greater understanding of the levels of risk that the organization is presently managing.

The late John Moubray, in his industry leading book RCM2, characterized Reliability-centered Maintenance as a process to establish the safe minimum levels of maintenance. This description echoed statements in the Nowlan and Heap report from United Airlines.
It is defined by the technical standard SAE JA1011, Evaluation Criteria for RCM Processes, which sets out the minimum criteria that any process should meet before it can be called RCM. This starts with the 7 questions below, worked through in the order that they are listed:
- What is the item supposed to do and its associated performance standards?
- In what ways can it fail to provide the required functions?
- What are the events that cause each failure?
- What happens when each failure occurs?
- In what way does each failure matter?
- What systematic task can be performed proactively to prevent, or to diminish to a satisfactory degree, the consequences of the failure?
- What must be done if a suitable preventive task cannot be found?
Handal Consulting has been involved to setting-up and implementing the RCM in our clients facility together with CARISMA-PRO software. We believe our performance will be increased your performance in term of engineering and management.
OBJECTIVES:
On completion of implementing RCM, the company should
- Understand the definition and concept of RCM
- Develop broad knowledge of professional roles, duties and responsibilities of RCM engineer and manager
- Be able to assign appropriate maintenance activity and planning with cost effective
CARISMA-PRO MODULES:
- FAilure Modes Effect Analysis (FMEA) modeling
- Logic Trees Analysis
- Maintenance Task Analysis
OUR EXPERIENCE:
- Indonesia Oil & Gas Production Sharing Contractor (PSC) company
